SUMMARY Congenital malformations of the head and neck are a wide and extremely heterogeneous group because this region contains parts of almost all organ systems. These malformations range in their importance and severity from purely cosmetic defects and minor disturbances to lethal anomalies. They can be isolated or occur as a component of a sequence, syndrome or chromosomal disorder. Some o...

Heat-activated persulfate was tested for destruction of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins/furans (PCDD/Fs) in the laboratory. Combined technology of in situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) and in situ thermal remediation (ISTR) using heat-activated persulfate can be applied for destruction of the PCDD/Fs polluted soil and the PCDD/Fs containing fly ash from incineration process. To explore the treata...
متن کاملStructure of the clean Gd5Ge4(010) surface.
We have characterized the (010) surface of Gd5Ge4 using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Data from different samples have the following features in common: (1) the surface composition equals the bulk composition to within 5 at.%, both after ion etching and after annealing at temperatures of 400-1200 K; and (2) the surface exhibits terraces of two types. ...

In this study we show that the aminopeptidase N of cerebral pericytes (pAPN) associated with the blood-brain barrier (BBB) is downregulated in pericytic cell cultures. This observation is in accordance with previous data describing comparable in vitro effects for BBB-specific enzymes of endothelial or pericytic origin, such as -glutamyl transpeptidase or alkaline phosphatase. By polymerase chai...
متن کاملSurface Characterization of Clean Gd5Ge4(010)
Based on X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Gd5Ge 4(010) does not show evidence of surface segregation. Scanning tunneling microscopy reveals two types of terraces which alternate laterally on the surface. From the step heights, these two surface terminations are assigned as dense, Gd-pure layers in the bulk structure. There is evidence of reconstruction on one type of terrace.
